“To Walk your Talk can be difficult especially when those around you are critical of your beliefs, thoughts or actions. This is when it is most important to look within yourself and determine what is important to you? What has value and purpose? Is it most important for you to know and understand or for someone else? Do you speak your words for their benefit or because you need to be heard? Sometimes, Walking ones’ Talk is best done in silence.”
This one can be a hard one for me. I just can’t understand why people can’t say what they mean and mean what they say. I can understand couching words so they can be heard by another person, especially when its something you know they don’t want to hear, but need to hear.
I believe personal agendas are the reason. The upside, yes there really are some, is when the agenda serves yourself and the Greater Good of all around you. Otherwise, it’s just selfish and self-serving.
OK, so where is that movable line that separates selfishness versus my own Greater Good? If you’re sick or overextended you just can’t give your best to those around you. Taking care of you first serves The All and the Greater Good. Ignoring you’re crying child because you have to get out for some girl or guy time doesn’t. Having your spouse take over, because he or she can do just as well or almost as well, and the girl time is really needed to feed your soul, serves you and All.
If you’re not sure where you stand in your Walk, then it really is time for silence. Just listen and observe Life around you. How are interacting within it and why? These are key pieces to discovering who you are, what you stand for, and how you choose to Serve The One, yourself and All. What greater self-fulfillment can there be?
